Soundtrack

The 2CD Original Soundtrack will be released by Lakeshore Records on the label Southern Lord label, through iTunes on April 28 and then in stores on May 12.

In his introduction, Jarmusch comments, “When I’ve finished a film and it’s released into the world, the most important thing to me, besides the film itself, is the soundtrack record. It collects the musical gifts that both inspired the film and, like passing clouds, shaped and shaded its sonic atmosphere.”

In the press notes to the film, Jarmusch talks about the choice of music: “I have a file of the music that I think is appropriate atmospherically for each film, and that has inspired me even before shooting. I pick the music, so there’s no music supervisor per se…When I was writing 'The Limits of Control,' I was already imagining using some things from Boris and Sunn O))), and Earth and The Black Angels. I made Chris Doyle CDs so he could listen to Boris; you could categorize Boris as a psychedelic/noise/metal band, but they’re just so original.”

The first album features the following tracklist:

01. Intro - Bad Rabbit

02. Fuzzy Reactor - Boris with Michio Kurihara

03. Saeta - La Macarena

04. Sea Green Sea - Bad Rabbit

05. Feedbacker (TLOC Edit) - Boris

The second album, entitled "Film Music from The Limits of Control", is a limited-edition digipack EP with four original tracks by Bad Rabbit. The band, consisting of Jim Jarmusch himself, Carter Logan, and Shane Stoneback, plays what Jarmusch calls “slo-motion psychedelic rock-n-roll” that is heard accompanying a handful of passages from the film, as well as the trailer.

According to some sources, the film will also feature "Moon Dust" by Bill Doggett, not included on the CD:s.
